America’s Need for Critical Minerals

I wrote my novel Rare Mettle partly to raise awareness of technology’s growing reliance and consumption of a subset of critical minerals, rare earth metals. As the years have passed, it is becoming obvious to everyone that a long-term, broad-based solution is needed, encompassing public policy and use of land; regulatory oversight; trade and economic considerations to bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US; tax credits to stimulate investment in risky but necessary undertakings; and too many more to enumerate.
